Royal Palace

The Palais-Royal originally called the Palais-Cardinal. The larger inner courtyard, the Cour d'Honneur, has since 1986 contained Daniel Buren's site-specific art piece Les Deux Plateaux, known as Les Colonnes de Buren

The Palais-Royal also contained one of the most important public theatres in Paris, in the east wing on the rue Saint-Honoré, on a site just to the west of what is now the rue de Valois ( read more )
